Days Gone developer Bend Studio has reportedly laid off 30% of its workforce 5 months after its reside service undertaking was canceled by father or mother firm Sony.
Based on Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who first shared the information on Bluesky, that equates to round 40 workers of Bend Studio being made redundant. The studio has reportedly been engaged on a brand new, yet-to-be revealed sport after Sony shut down its untitled reside service providing.
That canceled sport was one in all two initiatives shuttered by Sony in January, the opposite being a reside service God of Struggle sport that had been in improvement on the Demon’s Souls remake studio, Bluepoint, which was acquired by PlayStation in 2021.
Schreier reported in a follow-up Bluesky publish that it was “simply Bend” that was impacted by these layoffs at Sony.
It is unclear what Bend Studio is engaged on behind the scenes. Many followers have been hoping for a sequel to Days Gone now that the studio’s reside service undertaking seemingly is not standing in the best way.
Likewise, Bluepoint has been quiet since revealing in 2021 that it is engaged on an unique sport moderately than one other remake. In June 2024, Bluepoint’s head of expertise, Peter Dalton, confirmed that “nothing has modified since our assertion that we’re engaged on an unique title,” including on the time, “all the pieces takes time” and “we’re dedicated to sharpening our expertise!”
