Out as we speak: Afterlove EP, the visible novel about grief and rock music from the creator of Espresso Speak

Afterlove EP is the brand new visible novel and/or damaged hearts album from Indonesian builders Pikselnesia. It’s the unhappy, sleepy story of a musician, Rama, who’s making an attempt to place his life again collectively and reconnect together with his previous bandmates in Jakarta a 12 months after the demise of his girlfriend, Cinta. The complicating issue is that Cinta isn’t fully gone: she is a voice in Rama’s head, chatting to him all through the sport’s 28-day storyline as if sitting subsequent to the participant on the opposite aspect of the display screen.

Afterlove EP is the unique brainchild of Mohammad Fahmi, creator of Espresso Speak and What Comes After, who died in 2022. His colleagues at Pikselnesia have been reckoning with their very own sorrow as they end his sport. I’ve been enjoying Afterlove EP for overview, and whereas it’s a brief sport – possibly 5 to eight hours – during which you spend a number of time listening to conversations, I’ve discovered it robust going. I’ve misplaced a number of folks myself, and that is fairly squarely a sport about grief: exploring it, unpacking it, arguing about it, releasing it, or maybe simply current with it.

As such, I’ve determined to overlook this week’s overview embargo and provides the sport the time it must settle in my head. However I really feel assured in saying that there’s an attention-grabbing piece of narrative design right here, introduced within the type of evocatively scruffy hand-drawn artwork and accompanied by light indie rock music. If you happen to fancy making an attempt it out for your self, you will discover Afterlove EP on Steam.
